Zone 5 Senior Buttons - Adopted Format 2005
Rules of Play

The Senior Buttons is a two man best ball challenge amateur event. The event is match play
There are two divisions; an Open division and a Handicap division. In either division the winner of a hole is the team whose best ball is the lowest score.
In the open division there are no strokes given.
In the handicap division handicap strokes are taken to determine the best ball. Each member of a side, records his net score for a hole. The side with the lowest net score with there best ball wins the hole (play off the low ball).
The side that has won more holes than there are remaining holes to play is the winning side. The winning side holds the Buttons and defends in the next scheduled challenge.

Determining who qualifies for a side.

To qualify for play in the Senior Buttons each member of the side must be 55 years of age or older before they play their first match.
Each member of the side must be a member in good standing with the club they represent. A player may only represent one club during the course of the competition.
The Senior Buttons competition is open to all 18-hole clubs. A club may challenge in either or both of the Senior Buttons events.
There are no handicap restrictions on the members of a side competing for the Open buttons.
The following restrictions apply to the handicap indexes of the competitors in the Handicap division.
- The sum of the handicap factors for the two players on a side must fall between 14.0 and 32.0
- For each individual player their handicap factor must fall in the range of 6.0 to 18.
The intention of this restriction is to provide a fairly balanced and enjoyable competition for all involved.
