GOLF JUNIOR TOUR
VGJT
Announcing the
VIKES GOLF JUNIOR TOUR,
an exciting new competitive opportunity for
junior boys and girls in Zone 5.
Membership in the Vikes Golf
Junior Tour (VGJT) is open to advanced
junior golfers ages 12-18.
Minimum age for the 2008 season is 12 years
old on, or before, December 31, 2008.
Maximum age is 18, on or before October 31,
2008. Exceptionally skilled players younger
than 12 years may apply for a conditional
tour membership.
All players
must have a registered handicap factor, but
do not necessarily need to belong to a
club. Refer to
bcga.org
for
information on joining the BCGA Players
Club.
Members are expected to have a thorough
knowledge of the rules and etiquette of
golf, with the ability and experience to
play competitively, without undue delay and
without assistance.
The VGJT offers an opportunity for junior
golfers to enjoy their golf game while
gaining tournament experience, personal
development, and exposure to college golf
coaches, all in a competitive environment
on quality golf courses.
Typical course yardages for each division
are:

Junior
Boys 17 -18 6000 - 6600

Juvenile
Boys 14 -16 5700 - 6200

Girls
14-18: 5300 - 5800

Boys and
Girls 13+under: 5000 - 5300
A series14-16 events have been scheduled
between March 15 and April 30 (Spring
Series) and September 1 and November 15
(Fall Series)
Your annual membership guarantees an
opportunity to play in a minimum of 10
events, (5 in spring and 5 in fall) subject
only to space availability at time of
registration.
Each event field will include approximately
75% boys and girls in the 14-18 age
divisions and 25% boys and 4 girls in the
13+under age divisions.
Alternates
for any vacant spots, in an age division,
will be selected from an alternates list
based first on field quota, second on tour
membership, and third on order of merit
points.
Prizes
will be awarded on a net and gross basis in
each age division as well as on a season
long a season long order of merit.
Order of Merit
Points will be awarded based
on position of finish in each event using
the Zone method of point distribution.
Awards will be presented to Order of Merit
winners at the Tour Championship in the
fall.
Fees
Annual Tour Membership $45.00
Single event entry $25.00
(tour members) $35.00
(non-members)
Associate Tour Membership
(for non-juniors): Your contribution of $150.00
allows us to upgrade our prize
tables and also includes your
entry into the Tour Championship Junior/Am
in November. Venue and date tba.
Entry Procedure
Tour membership will be limited to the
first 60 accepted applications.
To join the tour, mail a cheque for
$175.00 to P.O.
Box 41009-5134 Cordova Bay Road Victoria
BC. V8Y 3C8. Cheques should be made
payable to Vikes Golf Junior Tour.
Your payment covers your annual dues and 5
event entries. If spots are available for
the other 2 events in the spring schedule a
further cheque for $25 per event is due
upon confirmation of entry.

The following dates have been confirmed for
the Spring Series. March 15, March 23,
March 30, April 6, April 12, April 20, and
April 26.
The following courses have
agreed to host a spring event but dates
have not yet been confirmed: Cowichan,
Cordova Bay , Victoria ,
Uplands, Glen Meadows, Gorge Vale, and
Victoria .
All events will start
between 12 and 2pm. BCGA rules staff will
officiate at all events.
