BCGA Zone 5 Men

Winter Buttons Competition

The City Open Buttons is contested through the winter months and involves all 12 of the Zone 5 18 hole clubs. The two-man team consists of two male players, one of which may be an eligible Professional from that club or an employee, with amateur status, affiliated with that same club. Junior golfers have their own events and as such are not eligible to represent their club in the Open Buttons. You do not have to use the same two players for all matches.

In 2009/2010 there will be a continuation of last year’s format where each Zone 5 golf club, represented by a 2 man team will play a best ball match against every golf club participating in the competition. There is one change from last year and that is the implementation of 2 Divisions within the competition. Those Divisions were determined from last year’s results. The top section of the schedule are the teams in the A Division and the bottom section of the schedule are the teams in the B Division. The placement in each Division will be determined each year by your finish at the end of the year, with the 6th place team in the A Division moving into the B Division and the 1st place team in the B Division moving in the A Division.

Congratulations to the Buttons team from Victoria Golf Club - the 2009 Open Buttons champions. Victoria defeated Gorge Vale in a well played match held on April 10th at Royal Colwood Golf Club

Both Victoria and Gorge ended the season with an identical record of 9 wins and 2 losses forcing a playoff match to determine the winner.
