Rules of Competition, Tee Times, Refreshments and Results Reporting
-
Club Captains of the home teams shall arrange for three tee-off times commencing not later than 4:30PM
(i.e.. 4:30, 4:37 and 4:45) for each Wednesday. Earlier starting is permissible if both teams are
present and agreeable. Club Captains should ensure that all groups get started with sufficient time
to ensure completion prior to darkness.
-
A proposed schedule will be issued early in the year. It will be up to the club/team captains
to ensure that their course will be available for their respective home dates. Should a course
not be available for a home match the proposed schedule will be modified accordingly. The first
choice to remedy a course conflict will be to swap home dates with the other team scheduled for
that date. Once the schedule is finalized matches must be played on the dates and courses as
drawn on the schedule. Failure to field a team for a scheduled match will result in the team
being disqualified from the competition for the year. All further matches for that team will
be cancelled and all points that arose from previous matches involving that team will be purged
from the standings. As well, the teams participation in future years may be in jeopardy.
Note: A club is considered to have failed to field a team if less
than 4 players are available to play in a scheduled match.
-
On completion of the evening matches, the host course will provide soup / sandwiches and
refreshments for each competitor. The team captains may not necessarily be playing members of
the teams, so there is a possibility that there could be a maximum of fourteen (14) individuals
to feed.
-
The Team Captains of the home teams are responsible for telephoning the results to the Willie
Park Coordinator (Don Gowan 250-380-0911
- leave a message on the machine) immediately after each match. Only the final point tally
needs to be reported (e.g.. Gorge Vale 5 Glen Meadows 4)
Foursome Play
-
The competitions will be Match Play Best Ball and Singles, played concurrently with one point
awarded for each singles victory and one point for each best-ball victory. Matches ending all
square - 1/2 point to each side.
Note: players arriving late for a match may join the Four-Ball match
at any time, but not during the play of a hole. The singles match involving the late player
would be forfeited.
-
The Team Captain of the visiting team will give the home Team Captain the order of his 6
players. The home Team Captain will then match his six players to the visiting team. The tees
to be played will be the decision of the home team.
-
Points will be cumulative, the winners being the team scoring the most points over the whole
schedule. In case of a tie for first place or last place, a play off at a neutral course shall
be played if necessary.
-
Winners Trophy - The team rep from the winning team is to provide a listing of names that are
to be engraved on the Willie Park Driver or Putter Trophy. It is recommended that these names
only include members who actually played in a match.
-
The winning team from Division B will be promoted to Division A for next year's Willie Park
interclub matches. Likewise, the 6th place team in Division A will be relegated to Division B.
