Rules of Competition, Tee Times, Refreshments and Results Reporting

Matches will be played in foursomes of:

Group 1:

  1. Low Handicap Visiting team v/s Low Handicap Home team (for 1 point)
  2. 2nd Low Handicap Visiting team v/s 2nd Low Handicap Home team (for 1 point)
  3. Team Match: 2 low handicap Visiting team v/s 2 low handicap Home team (better ball for 1 point)
  4. Total for this group (3 points)
Group 2:
  1. 3rd low handicap Visiting team v/s 3rd low handicap Home team (for 1 point)
  2. High handicap Visiting team v/s High handicap Home team (for 1 point}
  3. Team Match: The 2 higher handicap Visiting team v/s the 2 higher handicap Home team (better ball for 1 point)
  4. Total for this group (3 points)

Total for competition is 6 points
  1. Full handicap allowance in singles matches (difference between High & Low handicap in each match)
  2. Strokes to be taken where indicated on the score card.
  3. Full handicap allowance in the team match (all players are to take the difference between themselves and the low handicap player in the group. Strokes to be taken where indicated on the score card).
  4. Where a match is even after 18 holes, 1/2 point is to be awarded each player. This applies also to the team matches.
  5. The Home team coordinator is to assist in converting the handicap factors for that day, prior to the start of play
  6. All players shall produce a current year BCGA handicap card showing their current factor.
  7. Current factors are those that are attested within the last 15 days

New Items: All clubs are encouraged to serve a light lunch commencing no later than 12 noon with golf to follow at about 12:30 and 12:37 at each club. The liquid refreshment could be served after the match as opposed to lunchtime, whatever you prefer. These times are about one half hour earlier than last year's events. As for dress, the Zone 5 code is in effect and "blue jeans" are not permitted as golf attire.
